Brought to you by your Cultura hosts - the Livingston Diversity Council & the Livingston Arts Council, Cultura Connects is a new series celebrating the rich traditions, flavors, and stories behind the cultures featured at Cultura. Each of these intentionally curated, culturally immersive experiences will invite you to engage all of your senses through food, movement and art.
These incredible opportunities will be offered three times per year, each program centering on a different culture, allowing participants to connect, learn and appreciate our global community.
Our first stop in April 2026 landed us in India where participants celebrated the vibrant culture of India! All enjoyed flavorful Indian cuisine, learned energetic Bollywood-style dance moves, and created their own Diya bowls - a traditional lamp used during holidays like Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
Our fantastic & authentic tasting menu was provided by AGs Authentic Indian Cuisine in Brighton and included traditional selections from the lighter spice palette: butter chicken, paneer tikka masala (vegetarian), basmati rice, garlic naan, and a selection of chutneys.
Cultura Connects: Taiwan invites participants to explore the rich culture and traditions of Taiwan through food, art, and movement.
Food - Guests will enjoy a tasting experience featuring General Tso’s chicken, vegetable fried rice noodles, chicken pot stickers, vegetable spring rolls, sesame balls and bubble tea.
Art - The event will include a calligraphy demonstration and hands-on activities offering an opportunity to learn about these treasured artistic traditions.
Movement/Music - Performances will highlight the diverse cultural heritage of Taiwan through their distinctive sounds, movements and storytelling.
Together, these activities will create a fun, interactive, and flavorful celebration of Taiwanese culture - we can’t wait for you to join us!
